  • PATTERNS/BOOKS:     Should be in new or gently used condition. They should be kept to a minimum (books are bulky and add weight).

Calling all quilters!

Good Morning

While browsing the blogging world last night I came across a request from one of our fellow bloggers.  "Missy's Homemaking Adventures"  Her plea to all quilters really touched my heart!

Missy is in Mansfield Texas and has made a call out for help to make pinwheel blocks for a very special little girl named Kenzie.

I will be working on a few of these tonight to help her out.

Anyone else interested???? Please hop over to Missy's blog and read her request, I know it is short notice but I hope others can help.

I did go through the Traveling Stash Box last night, lots of petting and panting, I will have pictures soon.

Happy Quilting!!!

Super Bowl Sunday

Hi everyone,

Thanks for stopping by!

What did you get to do for Super Bowl, I watched most of the commercials, the Budweiser Clydesdale's are my favorite every year. My dear hubby watched the game and I listened while I put the binding on my Son in Law's quilt.  Last weekend I finally got all the blocks together and now it is ready for the frame.

Do to an unfortunate accident..... (Me & the dog) I have not opened the Traveling stash box yet, but plan to very very soon, hopping tonight..... You can find the information here

Our 45lb bulldog took a flying (and I mean flying) leap at the patio chair..... guess I should have not have had myself turned and standing next to the chair!!!! She hit the chair, that hit me in the ribs.  Low and behold I am a lot sore and cant pick up much for a few days......  We will see how that goes.... Been to urgent care, x rays are OK but doc wanted me to go to ER..... Since I have a heart condition they tend to freak out...  I will think on that one for a few days.....

Anyway here are a few pictures of Brandon's quilt top finished (the son in law)  Hope to get quilting on it soon.

Thanks for stopping by, Happy Quilting!

I finished the binding on Colton's quilt this morning.  My toes are cold since my sewing room is on the north and east walls of the house and does not warm up during the winter.

Love you Colton, next I am going to finish my other two quilts for my grandchildren Kevin and Lexus, sorry it has taken grandma so long, but just have to quilt them.

Found my next sewing machine at the quilt show yesterday...... To buy or not to buy????  We will see......

Now to box it up and ship it back to him before winter is over with!!

And again I am finally in my sewing room again... Went to see my new grand baby Colt (colton) the beginning of December 2012 and totally loved spending time with my exceptional daughter and grandchildren Kevin and Lexus (they are 12) and Colton (new)... Did not want to come home... but here I am a week before Christmas and working on his quilt.

Getting Healty

I started Cardiac Rehab this week.  3 days and I am going to work very hard at it for 12 weeks.  Since I now have 2 stents since December I have to be really careful.  Since the rehab is all monitored by nurses I feel better about it.  I was very active and walking up until November 2011 when I started having chest pressure. Since my first stent in December 2011 I have not had any caffeine, more fruits and veggies, more fish, less red meat, nothing fried or prepackaged.

Just got this put together this morning and 10 min of use, and it is hard. Took longer to put it together. Since this is a manual elliptical for home use I have to use my own body weight to make it go.  Harder than it looks.  But then again I almost fell off the treadmill in rehab (since I never used one)

Wish me luck on changing my eating habits and exercise.

Have a GREAT Day, now into my sewing room for some fun!
Thanks for stopping by Karen

New Grandbaby!!!!

We are expecting a new grand baby in November and a new grand nephew in July!! We are so excited.  With all of my recent medical issues, it is even more important to get me healthy again.  That is what I will be working on.  My taxes are done and we break even this year, since the last dependent has left the coop last year, no deduction this year, so sad.  But when I heard the news, I started this one.......

This is for our new grand child, I have not decided about our grand nephew just yet but working on it.
Thanks for stopping, have a GREAT day! Karen

Started this one just after the kids got married (will be 2yrs in June) boy does time fly by....
I have 10 sections done so far and will sew them together, I can't sit to long so I am going to get back to it! Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

Started Quilting

I finally loaded Mike's quilt on the frame.  This is the first one that is not a practice quilt, Yeah!! I started to use the panto boards until I got to the center...Black thread on dark background is a little hard to see but it does hide all my mistakes.  In progress and work on a few hours at a time, we will see.  Hope to have quilted this weekend or maybe next.... We will see.

03/31/2012
I finished Mike's quilt last weekend. My first finished quilt for 2012, hope to get more done! Yeah!! I tagged it and presented to my nephew, he was so pleased...

Dog Bite

I had the most wonderful lunch with our youngest daughter today at my favorite sushi place "Kampai" we had a great time.  Then stopped by her house for a short visit.  Her boyfriend has two little dogs, a Yorkie female and she is so sweet, the other is a male mix of something about 7 pounds.  They were friendly enough until I got ready to leave..... The little male decided to bite me, through my pants on the back of my calf..... More of a bite and run..... he bit me than ran away...  I have been bit by a German Shepperd, a lab, a mut... all of these were big dogs, I love big dogs.... never been bit by a yapper.... Till now!  OHCH!!!!! Since I am on blood thinners, it only makes it worse.... but the pup is ok, no I did not retaliate! Thought about it, my daughter says it was because I told them that they were not dogs... they were rats... LOL guess since I am a BIG dog person not a little dog person

Baby Brother

My sister has inspired me to update my neglected Blog.  This past week she has been taking care of our younger bother, day and night, at the hospital.  It was fortunate that he had great co-workers that new something was wrong when he did not show up for work.

He had a close call with uncontrolled diabetics and is on the mend. (it will take time) My sister has been with him the whole time, day and night at the hospital and looking out for his needs and care.  Faithfully updates all the friends and family several times a day.  Kudos's to you my little sister!!!

As she takes care of him I try to take care of me.  Having three family members in different hospitals at the same time is tiring for everyone.  As my brother gets better every day, I am glad and so glad that he has one of his older sisters to take care of him.

Lacy

Lacy Lola Rose is our 8month old English bulldog.  She has had it rough and easy.  She is a sweetheart and we received her when she was 9 weeks old.  She has a mind of her own but don't they all. lol

She had a foot that was not developing correctly, after x-rays we found out that she had a genetic bone disorder and her right foot and leg were not developing.  This did not slow her down.  We had her spayed and this did not slow her down either.

Today she is off to the vet as soon as they open and hope she will feel better soon.  She can't keep anything down and has the run's.  We all know how we feel when we have that.

Lacy is about 40 pounds now and all female!!!!
